IBUPROFEN (MOTRIN / ADVIL) and NAPROXEN (ALEVE) IS NOT RECOMMENDED IN PREGNANCY
In order to decrease the chance of a false abnormal result, you must eat plenty of carbohydrates for 3 days before the test. We recommend that you
add 3 choices from the following list in addition to your usual food intake.
2 Slices of bread
1 Slice of bread w/ 1 Tbsp of jam
1 Cup of Cooked Noodles or Rice
2 Corn Tortillas
1 Cup of Apple Juice
3/4 Cup of Grape Juice
1 medium Banana
1 1/2 Cups of Orange Juice
1 Cup of Vanilla Ice Cream
After 10:00 pm (the night before your take your test)
DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING EXCEPT WATER
Arrive to the lab no later than 8:30 am
First your blood sample will be drawn, after they will give you
a sugary liquid to drink. Each hour after the drink, for 3 hours in a
row, blood will be drawn. It is important that blood is drawn in
1-hour intervals. Please make sure you are available in the lab
at those times. After your last blood draw, you may eat your normal diet.
